We are not even talking about the decoration but the “inside” of your property like termite infestation, deteriorating built-in furniture or shelving, and especially to areas that are hidden because buyers often look at those areas and if they find something not good, it will definitely pull your value down.

  1. Collect all construction debris, large and small. This will be the bulk of the dirt. Sweep or vacuum the entire floor to get rid of uncollected nails, wood splinters and cement powders. Open all the cabinets and drawers so you could see the bigger picture. If you move in with your furniture, these dusts and debris will stick to your new stuff and would make the cleaning process longer.
  2. De-dust or wipe/mop the ceilings and walls first. Start wiping counter tops, cabinets and closets. This will scatter a little dust on the floor, but we will get back to that later.
  3. Wipe the windows and window sill.
  4. Sweep or vacuum the floor for the last time and then mop the floors with diluted liquid disinfectant.
  5. Lastly, clean the toilet. Make sure the grout (white cement in between tile) are dry before scrubbing any part of your toilet.

Here’s a checklist to help ensure that every part of your newly constructed/renovated home or office is clean up to the last inch:

KITCHEN

  • Cabinet doors (front and inside) are cleaned
  • Counter tops and shelves wiped, including the sink
  • Surfaces of appliances cleaned (stove, oven, fridge, microwave, etc)
  • Kitchen walls, baseboards and surfaces wiped
  • Windows, window sill and tracks (if any) cleaned
  • Doorknob, door frames, doors, light switches wiped
  • Trash removed
  • Floor vacuumed and mopped

BATHROOMS

  • Bathtub, shower walls, glass doors (if any) and sink cleaned and sanitized
  • Toilet bowl cleaned and sanitized
  • Mirrors wiped and cleaned
  • Cabinet doors (front and inside) wiped and cleaned
  • Windows, window sill and tracks (if any) cleaned
  • Doorknob, door frames, doors, light switches wiped
  • Trash removed
  • Floor is mopped and dried

BEDROOMS

  • Walls, baseboards and surfaces wiped
  • Closet doors front and inside cleaned
  • Carpeted floors vacuumed / Hard surface floors vacuumed and mopped
  • Mirrors cleaned
  • Windows, window sill and tracks (if any) cleaned
  • Doorknob, door frames, doors, light switches wiped
  • Trash removed
  • Floor is mopped and dried

OTHER LIVING AREAS

  • Walls, baseboards, tables, chairs and surfaces wiped
  • Doorknob, door frames, doors, light switches wiped
  • Trash removed
